On October 20th, the Spanish cooperative ACOR announced the start of the sugar beet harvest for the 2025/26 season, anticipating a recovery in average yields and an increase in sugar content.

The sucrose content of the first 5,300 tonnes of sugar beets received by the company this season exceeds 17.5%, a percentage point higher than the previous season.

If this level of productivity is maintained, ACOR plans to process more than 1 million tonnes of sugar beets from the 9,995 hectares contracted this season.

«Initial analyses show that we are returning to a normal harvest in terms of sugar content and productivity. This is good news, which reinforces our confidence in the stability of the harvest and the work of our partners. We are talking about a volume that will likely exceed one million tons of sugar beets», — stated the president of ACOR.

This season, sowing was delayed by three to four weeks due to heavy rains in March. Despite the challenging start to the sowing campaign, moderate temperatures in July facilitated normal root development.

ACOR stated that high temperatures in the first half of August may have impacted sucrose accumulation. Conditions improved from mid-August onward, and along with ideal crop conditions, beetroots have significantly increased in weight and sucrose content in recent weeks.
